Thumbsnails

2013

6 x 6 x 3.5 feet

wood, steel, aluminum, plaster, foam, burlap, linoleum, motor

In my recent work I use the thumb as a symbol for how we use our hands as the primary form of communication/ miscommunication , ie through the constant influx of social media, text, tweet, email, facebook etc... The snail represents a lack of speed and or progress, these new hybrids sit on a 6’ platform that slowly rotate around and around with the optically shifting geometric pattern known for disorientation.
